I read that one of the newly ordained priests said his first low Mass on the following Saturday, which was the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary according to the altered calendar of the Pauline Rite. The traditional date is August 22nd.
Does this mean that Institute priests in this diocese or in the States in general follow the altered calendar rather than that of the Missal as it is set according to the last revision of the Roman Rite in 1962?
IF this is so, it is an aberration, as according to ‘Indult’ protocol there shall be no mixing of ceremonies OR calendar usage.
I know that the Institute in France, as well as the FSSP,abide by the traditional calendar.

Edward-

The Mass was celebrated because of the feast- but rather it was an approved Votive Mass for that day, as I understand it

Thanks

The Institute celebrates a votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart on First Saturdays, as well as votive First Fridays Mass to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Normally they celebrate the Saturday ferial Mass of Our Lady. The Immaculate Heart is also a valid votive Mass for last Saturday.

For moved feast days like Ascension, they will celebrate it on the correct day, as well as holding an “External Solemnity” on Sunday.

Good. That clears it up.
And VERY happy I am to hear it as well.
I know that at the Mass I attend (which is under the Indult dispensation) we did indeed celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart last Sunday as our Bishop only allows “extra” masses when they are the traditional days of obligation (such as Ascension), and although the Sacred Heart is at least a 1st class feast (which he USED to allow), still he would not allow it as it was not obligatory.

Oh well.
Just have to keep holding out until that magical motu proprio arrives, I guess.
